Another unholy Alliance!!

Wednesday, May 1st, 2013

time for another unholy alliance, yalls!
this time I was teaming up with cartoonist, musician and very good friend Ralph Ruthe. most of you dear readers should know him for his excellent cartoons and his website ‘Shit Happens’ (if not, you’ve got to catch that up qickly!!).

some of you might know, that Ralph is also an magnificent songwriter. he produces catchy electronic popmusic already for ages and he plays & performs them recently with his band ‘We Are Linus’, where I’m also a part of.

once upon a time I did some remixes for two of Ralph’s tunes (Du bist wie Sand & 10 More Miles ). Ralph liked the remixes a lot and sent me a collab-track named ‘Old Times’ where I should put my fingers on.
I took that tune and send it completely thru the shredder – I added some synths, a spoonful of acid and edited until the doctor came. ;)
here’s the result: a catchy, ravey and ill dancetrack with lots of oldschool house- and electroflavours.
enjoy!!

Another $upra-Rerelease: PUCH – Sense

Wednesday, March 27th, 2013

it’s time for another rerelease on $upra Recordings: this time it’s the second official longplayer by PUCH ,named ‘Sense‘.

Sense‘ was produced & recorded between 2002-2003compared to our first selftitled lonplayer ,’Sense‘ is a far more melancholic and also more songoriented album.
it combines styles like downtempo/triphop with classic pop and aswell lounge flavours and has a slight indietouch through spices like glitch, dub & illbient.

I first give you three tracks for a small listening impression:

1.) Son Of Schiwago
———————

Featuring the magnificent vocals of Cara McQueen this song has somehow slightly atmospheric & cinematic vibes.

2.) Cover Me With Joy
———————–

we can’t deny a little ‘Air’-influence on this one – a worn-out and crunchy dopebeat carries a symphonic organ thru a classic composition featuring the vocals of myself.

3.) Blue Corazón
——————

blue is the keyword here for the overall mood – a deep & melancholic jazzed-up song featuring cara’s outstanding voice again.

I hope these impressions give you a nice view on the overall sad vibes of ‘Sense‘ – tho ‘Sense‘ has way more tracks with vocals, there are some instrumental tunes (f.e. ‘Days Gone’, ‘Big Noise’) aswell.
we also give away two tracks of ‘Sense‘ for free download: ‘Space Travel’ & ‘Whatelse Is Wrong’ !

listen/download/share ‘Sense’!

thx & enjoy!

2 more L.O.S.T.-Tunes from a dead Band!!

Wednesday, February 6th, 2013

back on track with two more L.O.S.T.-tunes – this time it’s from another dead band of mine I showed you ages ago – I’m talking bout ‘Tsunami‘ (read more about us —->HERE!).

Tsunami‘ stood for melodic indie-powerpop – we had a bunch of nice songs and two (un)official selfmade releases.
these two songs are from our second e.p. from 2004/05.

first song is named ‘All Saints‘ and is a catchy midtempo tune featuring the guitarwalls of our guitarist Assi ‘Z’ Zimmermann. (the guy with the cap on the left side of pic above)
Tsunami – All Saints

second choon named ‘Grace‘ is a driving uptempo track with a cool hookline revolving around a nice bass-sample provided by our bassman Christian Keller. (the guy with glasses in the rear of pic above)
Tsunami – Grace

enjoy the songs!!

Approaching the Mp3 Abyssum again!

Thursday, January 24th, 2013

it’s been quite a while since we’ve approached my mp3-abyssum, nearly one year ago exactly.
while digging thru old tapes I found another rare pearl of my very early recording and composingworks from 1995. :)

it stars my second dead alias ‘Floater‘ (read more about ‘Floater‘–> HERE! ) with the epic-10minute-dreamy-ambient-electropop tune ‘Shoreline‘ and it’s one of that tunes which unfortunately only exist on regular audiotape.
so please don’t expect high-end hifi sound! ;)

inside my mp3 abyssum this track is found in the quadrants ‘Lonely Tunes‘ & ‘Totally Leftfield‘ – stilistic it’s a slow & smooth ambient electronica tune with lots of synthpads, a bright FM piano and far-died-away vocals in the background.

enjoy ‘Shoreline’!

Another $upra ReRelease: hell g. – TCS

Thursday, January 10th, 2013

yesyesyall, kickin off the nu year with another re-release on $upra Recordings (and another freshly-retro bloglayout ;) ) !
this time it’s the 2003 album ‘Total Consuming Satisfaction‘ by my alias ‘hell g.

TCS‘ displays my soundworks from 2001-2003 – it was that time where I was very much into producing drum & bass and dopebeat/triphop music.
I was also pretty much in experimental-mood when it came to loopconstruction, beatprogramming or fx-layering.
some of the tunes on ‘TCS‘ where completely jammed in a row, others where complex constructions with weeks or month of finetuning work.

to get a short glimpse on ‘TCS‘ i’ve got some listening-tips for yalls.

1st : U Took My Love
——————–
this is one of the jam-tracks from ‘TCS’ – a slightly mad groovy triphop tune with lots of obscure synths, a wobbly gum bassline, tricky dopebeats and an ill rhodes piano. it’s also one of the free-download tracks from ‘TCS’! :)

——————–

2nd : Memento
——————–
starting smooth with a soothing pad and percussive breaks then turning into a dark and ominous roller – one of the drum & bass tunes from ‘TCS’.

——————–

3rd : Pullover

——————–
another dnb-tune from ‘TCS’ – this time it’s a remix of one of my alltime-favetunes: ‘Pullover’ by Speedy J (the old raveheads beyond you dear readers will remember that techno-anthem)! This track is also for free-download!

——————–

so far for the tips – there’s quite a lot more different stuff and sounds to discover on ‘TCS‘ – why not checkout for yourself? ;)

listen/download/share ‘Total Consuming Satisfaction’ on bandcamp!

free download tracks are ‘U Took My Love’, ‘Fauna Flashed’, ‘Pullover’ and ‘Don’t Keep Your Head Down’

enjoy!!

TRAPOCALYPSE MEOW!!

Friday, December 21st, 2012

today is the day yalls – the day of wich the mayans predicted some pretty doom action ages ago!

and I thought it could be useful to make a tight fitting soundtrack for these circumstances! :)

I for me don’t think that there’ll be some crappy meteor-showers, nor some awkward planet x, or stupid alien invasions – no, me tinks there will be giant apo’cat’lypse! I can hear them already – deep growls & purrs all over the place! I dreamt of it, I swear!!!

stilistic this is a pure trap/dub/step mixtape featuring cats like crimes!, dvnny seth, datsik, skepp & hawk any many more – all compressed into a tight 37 minute mix, so yall might have a compact & massive doomsday partey! ;)

Oldie(s) of the month

Wednesday, November 14th, 2012

time for some more old shit – this time I’ve got 2 tunes from my dead sideproject ‘Annette Gratze‘ for you, created somewhere between 2001/02.

the last time I blogged a track of this sideproject here was already two years ago, so if you want to know more about ‘Annette Gratze‘, go on clicking THIS WAY! ;)

the first track I got for you was one of our latest sessionworks & it wasn’t part of our album ‘Words More in the Air‘.

Achnbach and me (who wrote and composed all tracks) sometimes lingered in the basement of their house and had sessions with various instruments. it was mostly improvised stuff without an defined structure. we jammed around, achnbach on guitar & me on synths & percussion and created this organic, slightly ill piece of cake – it somehow has an overall sloppy jazzy feeling to it so we named it after the place where it was created. ;)
we later added additional electronics and annette’s ad-libs.

annette gratze – jazzhole

the second tune I got for yalls is the closing track of our album – a beautiful, ethereal and melancholic instrumental guitar performance by achnbach.

annette gratze – distance (gone)

enjoy the music!

ZOMBIERAVE II – Dance of the Dead

Wednesday, October 31st, 2012

yall know wut? it’s halloween tonita – and what could be a possibly better soundtrack for this event than another ‘ZOMBIERAVE‘ mixtape?? ;)

in may this year I posted the firstZOMBIERAVE‘ mix for yall dear readers and it consisted of ultra-slowed-down 90′s techno rave tunes & anthems melted together into a haunting, hypnotic slo-mo joyride.

this time I took a step across another border: I invited a bunch of already dead and undead vocalists and mashed-up the old slowed down techno tunes with their vocals – how friggin’ sick is that? :D

here’s a short overview about these artists:

dead singers
—————————–
ian curtis (courtesy of joy division)
carl & dennis wilson (courtesy of the beach boy zombies)
john lennon (courtesy of the zombles)
the beastie boys (courtesy of the beastie boys)
nico (courtesy of the velvet zombie underground)

undead singers
——————————-
brian wilson (courtesy of the zombie boys)
lemmy kilmister (courtesy of motörzombiehead)
joey tempest (courtesy of europe)
madonna (courtesy of madonna)
neil tennant (courtesy of pet shop zombies)
josh homme (courtesy of zombies of the stone age)
chris martin (courtesy of coldzombie)
thom yorke (courtesy of radiohead)
morten harket (courtesy of a-ha)
dolores o’zombie (courtesy of the cranberries)
and many more

this time ‘ZOMBIERAVE 2‘ turned out into a true monstermix lenghtwise – it’s nearly 2 hours long!
so I devided it into two parts for your listening- and downloading-pleasure. ;)
(right click and ‘save as‘ on the links below – it’s free!!)

enjoy halloween – enjoy ZOMBIERAVE 2!!

ZOMBIERAVE 2 – Pt.1
ZOMBIERAVE 2 – Dance of the Dead Pt.I – mixed by hell g. – Oct.2012

ZOMBIERAVE 2 – Pt.2
ZOMBIERAVE 2 – Dance of the Dead Pt.II – mixed by hell g. – Oct.2012

p.s. to all my hometown-readers: we have a creepy party tonite named ‘ZOMBIERAVE‘ at our beloved little venueNr.z.P.‘ in Bielefeld featuring ‘killerfritte‘ (aka rec.effort) & ‘hoellen-g‘ (aka me) – come as a zombie & get free entry! C yall there!
