it’s about that time for a nu mp3-abyssum dive – the first in 2012.

this time I digged in some 95/96 crate-caves and found an old hell g. tune, one of the very first ones I ever did under this alias. for this reason we are entering the middle of my mp3-abyssum again, the zany nebula.

that track named ‘D.O.P.E.D.‘ is a slow & deep creeping doped out trippy monster, starring a slightly distorted 303 bassline over a crusty crackling ultraslow breakbeat – flavoured with hallucinating spherical sounds and some dub reggae offbeat keys in the middle.

stilistic this track ranges somewhere between dopebeats, trip hop & illbient.

here comes the first oldie of the month in 2012 at Ħ Ξ Ŀ Ŀ – a track by myself named ‘I Like It When You Smile‘, created in 2005.

this deep downtempo styled tune is very atmospheric and turns from slight angelic, etheric and positive vibes into some dark, eerie & spooky kind of mood in the end.

stilistic this track is settled somewhere between trip hop/downtempo and broken beats with dub and ambient influences, and features some slightly timestretched strings and a backwards piano.

‘I Like It When You Smile‘ is also part of my 2006 release ‘Carefree‘, which is available via my $upra-Shop on ithinkmusic and also on iTunes. ‘Carefree‘ will soon be available via my $upra-Shop on bandcamp, too.

Ho Ho Ho – I’ve got a very special re-release on $upra Recordings for Xmas – it’s nothing less than the very first lonplayer from ‘PUCH‘!

exactly 10 years ago in the beginning of 2001 cara mcqueen, dub mars & me founded our downtempo outlet ‘PUCH’, named after an old austrian moped-brand.

it was clear from our very first sessions on, that we all have a deep passion for the trippy, melancholic, chilled, & sometimes even the jazzy, loungie and funky-side of downbeat. inspired by acts like massive attack, tricky, portishead, björk, leftfield, etc we started to work on our very first tunes.

our output was vast and so we already finished our first sametitled longplayer in the end of 2001.
after releasing it in a small edition only on cd-r from 01-05 we decided to put it all back on for sale as a special xmas-birthday-doublefeature.

and guess what? we’re also giving away three tunes (for low, memories, broken dub) for free – how friggin’ awesome is that!?

kicking off december with a brandnu remix by myself – this time it’s a remix for the gorgeous indie/alterative rock anthem ‘Ventura‘ by my hometown friends of ‘Tarranado‘.

‘Tarranado‘ (formerly known as ‘Dive‘) consists of bastian (voc/bass), götz (git) & felix (dru).
they are placing their sound somewhere between post-grunge and emotional alternative rock and they truly have a passion for writing huge rock anthems.

‘Ventura‘ is exactly that kind of anthem I’m talking about. the song just gets right straight into the heart & soul of the listener and stays there forever.

it’s finally online, the latest release on my little label ‘$upra Recordings‘ – be prepared for something dark, very dark & sinister – it’s the debut album of ‘DE▲D††BUT††DRE▲MING‘!

DE▲D††BUT††DRE▲MING (read more about DE▲D††BUT††DRE▲MING >> HERE ) unleashes his first selftitled longplayer and it’s become an gloomy & moody ride inside his & your mind and soul.

15 tracks, ranging from cold angst & deep emotion to pure desperation, are taking you on a trip deep down to your very own graveyard.
it’s hard to describe this album with words or to press it into a single shape, sound- or stylewise.

stilistic it ranges all around the dark side – dark wave & dark ambient are also keywords that match the sound of ‘DE▲D††BUT††DRE▲MING’. but there’s also ebm, industrial or neo-romantic elements – I can even hear some italo-disco influences (!) and some drag/witchhouse flavours in some tunes.
i guess that’s what some people call ‘grave wave‘ today.

DE▲D††BUT††DRE▲MING himself calls his sound no-fi – that might be because of the overall lofi-atmo on his album, triggered by his oldschool recording technique using old tape machines and overdubs.
